Mr. P. K. Cherian (Baby sir-79) Retired Deputy Collector and former vice-chairman of the Pratinidhi Sabha went to be with the Lord on 7th March 2019 at 9.15 am. Cherian Sir also served as our Lay-Trustee and was a Sabha council member for many years. He also served as the manager of Suvisesha Prakasini for a few years. Cherian Sir by his adept handling of things and far sight quite often was a crisis manager in our Church. Whenever the Sabha Council or any other forum in which he was member faced difficulty to resolve an issue, Cherian sir willl have a last word on the issue and thus it will come to a close. The vast experience he had as Government official (as Thahasildar and Deputy collector) also helped in many critical situations.
Above all he loved the Lord and his Church and contributed to the needs of the Church/ Evangelism as much as he can and even beyond. Even when he was physically very weak he passionately involved in Church affairs and was very active in Thalavady-Nedumpram Parish and was the secretary of the Parish for many years. He was also a well known figure in the social life of Kuttanad and Thiruvalla area because of his tenure as the Deputy collector Aleppey District and Thiruvalla Thahasildar. He also served as the Election Deputy Collector in Pathanamthiita district. Of late he was confined to his home at Thalvady because of physical ailments yet he was very punctual in attending the worship services and even to a few cottage meetings, if he is not admitted in hospital or under strict order of the Doctors. May God raise many who can stand in the shoes of Cherian Sir to serve the Lord and His church. we salute a faithful servant of the Lord on his departure to meet his Savior. Kindly pray for the bereaved family members. Wife Mrs. Leelamma Cherian (Retd. teacher), Children: Sony & Sanu, Praisy& Reji and their children. We as a church share the grief of the dear and near ones and the Thalavady-Nedumpram Parish. Funeral will be held at thalavady Nedumpram Parish on Tuesday 12th March 2019 at 2pm.
